ZEAL © 2010 DiLilloArts

                                                 Italian Carrara Marble 14"h x 12"w x 16" l
Designed and carved by Paul DiLillo in 1996 at The Chicago Marble Carving Studio- Stone City
This marble piece hade feint iron ore and sulfur veining which caused sparks when carving, metal chisel to metal. Some times impure veins like this are hidden deep within the stone causing the stone to break. Luckily ZEAL was ok...
Sand bags are used to cushion the stone's bottom surface from the hammer's blow. These sand bags I made were from old cut-off jean legs, sewn and taped with duct tape.
